The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs to ensure a safe working environment across all Habitat for Humanity of Omaha locations. This role will involve overseeing safety protocols for our ReStores, construction sites, and office environments, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, and fostering a culture of safety among employees and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Program Development and Implementation:
- Develop and maintain safety policies and procedures tailored to ReStores, construction sites, and office environments.
- Implement and enforce safety standards in compliance with OSHA regulations and other relevant safety guidelines.
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Training and Education:
- Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees, volunteers, and partners across all locations.
- Ensure that all new hires and current staff receive proper training on safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Conduct refresher courses and update training materials as needed.
- Incident Management:
- Investigate workplace accidents and incidents, determining root causes and implementing preventive measures.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and generate reports for management.
- Coordinate with insurance providers and regulatory agencies as required.
- Safety Compliance and Reporting:
- Monitor and ensure compliance with OSHA standards and other regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and submit required safety documentation and reports to regulatory agencies.
- Keep abreast of changes in safety regulations and update policies accordingly.
- Organizational Safety Initiatives:
- ReStore Safety:
- Oversee safety protocols for handling and processing donated goods and furniture.
- Ensure proper training for employees handling heavy or potentially hazardous materials.
- Monitor store operations for safety compliance and address any issues promptly.
- Construction Site Safety:
- Collaborate with construction managers to enforce safety standards on-site, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and machinery safety.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.
- Ensure that all construction activities comply with OSHA regulations and industry best practices.
- Office Safety:
- Develop safety procedures for office operations, including ergonomics, safe lifting techniques, and emergency preparedness.
- Monitor and address safety concerns related to office equipment and light materials handling.
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations and promote a culture of safety within the office environment.
Qualifications:
- Relevant certifications such as OSHA Certification, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in safety coordination or a related role.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and motivate others.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency with Safety management software in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods.
- Home Construction Environment: Physical stamina to walk, stand, and work on construction sites for extended periods, including in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to navigate uneven terrain and safely perform tasks at different heights, including the use of ladders and scaffolding.
- General Requirements: Ability to perform site inspections and safety audits, including climbing stairs and ladders.
- Capability to respond quickly in emergency situations and assist with evacuations or other safety measures.
- Flexibility to adapt to different physical demands across various work environments.
