As a Public Relations Associate, you will be instrumental in promoting and supporting the mission and impact of Habitat for Humanity of Omaha. The Public Relations Associate will support and lead numerous critical communications efforts, including developing content that drives audience engagement, managing media relations, and developing and executing communication strategies. Your work connects Habitat Omaha with the communities it serves, its partners, and team members to ensure our message reaches those who can join us in supporting our efforts to increase affordable housing opportunities and make homeownership possible for first-time home buyers.

Requirements

  • Assist in developing and executing public relations campaigns to build and enhance Habitat Omaha's brand awareness.
  • Develop and produce press releases, newsletters, blog posts, and social media content to effectively communicate our mission and programs to key external and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain and update media lists, pitching stories, and securing coverage in local and regional outlets.
  • Assist in crafting compelling posts and engaging with the community.
  • Coordinate and assist with public-facing events and media opportunities.
  • Monitor and report on PR to measure success.
  • Foster relationships with media representatives, influencers, and community leaders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on messaging and outreach.

Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer skills with experience in web-based marketing and communications tools, as well as software platforms such as survey tools, email distribution systems, Microsoft and Adobe suite products, Facebook Insights, and Google Analytics.
  • A “can do” positive approach to problem-solving, executing tasks, and building relationships. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast – paced environment. 
  • Strong conceptual thinking. 
  • Develop and coordinate measurements and distribution platforms. 
  • Ability to integrate public relations, advocacy, marketing, and social media into measurable campaigns.
  • Visual arts and photography/videography skills are a plus. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, or a related field. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in public relations, communications, or community relations. 
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, partners, local organizations, and the news media.
  • Passion for community engagement, advocacy, and making a positive impact.
