About the Role

The Company is seeking a Chief Risk Officer (CRO) to lead its Office of Risk Management, including compliance and legal functions. The CRO will be responsible for overseeing and executing a comprehensive risk management program, working closely with the Board's Risk and Compliance Committee, and ensuring that the company and its subsidiaries operate within legal and regulatory requirements. This pivotal role involves providing leadership, strategy, and direction for risk and legal teams, as well as promoting a culture of transparency and constructive communication with regulatory bodies. The successful candidate will be expected to have a strong background in risk management, with a focus on operational, strategic, and compliance risks, and to work proactively with business units to identify, analyze, and mitigate risks to support the company's growth. Candidates for the CRO position at the company should have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, with an advanced degree such as a JD or MBA highly preferred, and at least 15 years' experience in business and risk, including a minimum of 10 years in a leadership role within risk management, preferably in a large financial institution. Experience with non-bank financial institutions and/or fintech companies is a plus. The role requires extensive knowledge of risk management principles, practices, and regulatory requirements, as well as excellent communication, critical thinking, and collaboration skills. The CRO will be expected to set and maintain standards for risk policies and procedures, conduct risk assessments, and ensure that the company's risk profile is in line with its risk appetite. Additionally, the CRO will lead efforts to build a risk-conscious culture and will be involved in strategic decision-making to evaluate and manage risks.
