About the Role

The Company is embarking on a significant three-year Humanities Initiative to advance and enrich humanities research, education, and public engagement. This initiative, which is at the forefront of the company's commitment to the humanities, will explore the theme of Media and Meaning and its impact on society. The Executive Director will play a pivotal role in this transformative process, working closely with the Faculty Director to shape and implement the academic and intellectual direction. The successful candidate will be responsible for strategic management, administration, and the establishment of innovative programming, interdisciplinary initiatives, and research collaborations. The role also involves overseeing day-to-day operations, personnel management, budget and financial management, and representing the initiative in both academic and public spheres. Applicants for the Executive Director position within the Humanities Initiative at the company should hold a PhD and have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, with a preference for those holding an advanced degree in a humanities field. Essential qualifications include the ability to work in a cross-disciplinary academic environment, strong organizational and management skills, and a proven track record in project planning. The role requires excellent communication, leadership, and staff development skills, as well as the ability to navigate the complexities of academic culture with tact and sensitivity. Experience in strategic planning, program building, and public humanities is highly valued. The Executive Director will be instrumental in fostering the values of higher education, resolving conflicts, and promoting a culture of excellence and collaboration within the initiative.
