Position Summary | The Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Neuroscience at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) is seeking a candidate who will lead and execute research projects on the pathogenesis and treatment of microbial infections focusing primarily on tuberculosis and HIV-1. Prior experience and research activities need to center on small animal studies with primary expertise in treatment modalities. Knowledge of handling infected animals and in assessing toxicology and tissue pathologies is required. The candidate will prepare manuscripts for publication, take care of the day-to-day laboratory operations and assist in training students. The candidate will also coordinate activities of collaborative research projects and present research results at local and national seminars and conferences. Additionally, the candidate will write standard operating procedures and review protocols to be used in the biosafety level 3 laboratories. Experience in imaging flow cytometry, paper, and grant writing is preferred. Experience in murine models of a broad range of infective agents, including Mycobacterium tuberculosis, is preferred |

Required Qualifications | Ph.D. or equivalent degree, and at least 2 years of post-doctoral experience, excellent communication skills, and in-depth knowledge of microbiology, eukaryotic cell culture, macrophage infection with BSL3 pathogens, and animal infections, and sample processing is critical. A minimum of 5 years of research experience in animal handling and drug testing is mandatory. |
Supplemental Qualifications | Experience in imaging flow cytometry, paper, and grant writing is preferred. Experience in murine models of a broad range of infective agents, including Mycobacterium tuberculosis, is preferred. |
