Job Summary:

The Parent Resource Advocate must have knowledge of lifespan disability services and supports across the lifespan and region. The ideal candidate must have skills and background that would allow for effective participation in multiple discipline and multidisciplinary medical clinics. They must have personal experience in navigating service delivery systems which include medical services, school services, school transition services (up to age 21), and health and welfare services. Preference will be given to a parent or family member of children or youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN) and/or disabilities who can offer peer-to-peer mentoring to support families who are receiving services at MMI.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree
  • 2 years work and/or life experience with children that have a developmental or related disability.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Microsoft Excel,Microsoft Word,Microsoft Outlook

Will consider four years related education/experience

 

  • Must be able to obtain transportation when travel is required (with advanced notice)
  • Ability to work with Medical Professionals and Families.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to work with the disability advocacy community.



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Advocacy, self-advocacy or program management related to programs for individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Experience working with information referral for children with special health care.
  • Microsoft PowerPoint

 

  • Knowledge and experience in information referral.
