Responsibilities
 

Responsible for the development, administration and evaluation of safety and technical training and/or human performance related programs within assigned discipline.

Administer the District¿s apprentice programs as established including indenturing, final written and oral exams, and maintenance of all records and other hands-on assessments.

  • Analyze, identify gaps, and influence the acceptance of new training programs.
  • Coordinate and direct all training activities related to these programs. 
  • Acts as liaison between employees, management, and the S & TT Department regarding apprentice programs and apprentice performance.

Responsible for safety & technical and/or human performance training programs for tenured associates that comply with applicable safety manual, policies and regulatory requirements for assigned business partners (i.e. T & D, POD) and other disciplines/areas. 

  • Responsible for leading the design, development, implementation and evaluation phases of training related business solutions.

Interpret and act as a resource in the application of applicable safety policies and regulations for assigned business partners

  • Provide analysis and technical expertise in the investigation, analysis and evaluation of incidents and SIF¿s. 
  • Assist field supervisors in verifying the technical proficiency of employees via observation and/or performance evaluation methods. 
  • Evaluate effectiveness and compliance with policies, procedures and regulations by assisting in conducting safety audits and observations.
  • Provide expertise to the development and implementation of safety and technical policies and procedures within OPPD. 

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Required:

Bachelor¿s degree in related area or equivalent technical experience and completion of applicable apprentice program

  • Eight (8) years of experience in assigned discipline such as
  • Journeyman line technician and/or crew leader experienced in the maintenance, operation and construction of transmission and distribution facilities both overhead and underground.
  • Operation, maintenance and design of a large fossil generating station.
  • Exceptional working knowledge of power plant operation, construction and/or maintenance activities with a strong mechanical background, an engineering degree or extensive mechanical maintenance experience preferable at a power generating facility.
  • OR a Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP).

Desired:

Four (4) years of training experience.

Time Demands:

  • This position is considered an ¿essential position¿ meaning when business necessity and continuity needs are emergent, this position will be required to report to work and may be required to work hours beyond an employee¿s normal shift.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance in alignment with Departmental policy. 
  • Must maintain 24-hour availability for technical and professional assistance, emergency response, and directing remedial action in response to such emergencies, as well as maintain availability as required for on call duty.
