Description

The EMS instructor is responsible for instructing and managing all educational activities of the Paramedic classes.

Job Duties

  • Managing all educational activities of the course.
  • Arrives to class on time and assures that students are present at the start of class.
  • Assures adherence to applicable accreditation commission requirements, to include daily lesson plans, test validity, reliability, and difficulty of question (KR20) program policy and procedure, and programâ??s curricula.
  • Monitors student progress, to include grades, attendance, and behaviors, conducts student progress reports, conducts student orientation, and advises students throughout the program.
  • Teaches both didactic and laboratory classes within the Program Curriculum.
  • Assure that all equipment is in working order prior to and following class. This is defined as fixing, ordering parts, or notifying the program director of the need to repair.
  • Responds to all student questions in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with adjunct instructors as needed.
  • Coordinate with EMS Clinical Coordinator for didactic education.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • State of Iowa Paramedic certificate 
  • Associate degree or higher

Normal Office 
Very heavy work (lift over 50 lbs.)
Other physical requirements (note):

  • The employee frequently is required to sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate computer keyboard, telephone and basic office equipment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear
  • Ability to drive company owned or personal vehicle.
