The Adjunct CDL Simulation Instructor will be responsible for teaching high school students how to effectively use the Virage CDL simulator. This role involves conducting in-person training sessions at the IWCC Center during the spring and fall semesters. The goal is to provide students with foundational skills and simulated driving experiences to prepare them for future CDL training and driving careers.

Job Duties

  • Conduct engaging and educational CDL simulation training for high school students.
  • Provide step-by-step instruction on how to use the Virage CDL simulator.
  • Foster a supportive and interactive learning environment to encourage skill development.
  • Monitor students' progress, offer constructive feedback, and address any challenges they face with simulator usage.
  • Ensure all simulator equipment is used safely and properly maintained.
  • Collaborate with the program coordinator to schedule training sessions and plan lesson content.
  • Keep accurate records of student participation and performance.
  • Uphold school and program policies, maintaining professionalism at all times.

Qualifications

  • CDL certification and practical driving experience preferred.
  • Prior teaching or training experience, especially with high school students, is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and adhere to a flexible work schedule.
  • Proficiency in using training simulators or willingness to learn how to operate the Virage CDL simulator.
  • A commitment to safety, student success, and fostering an engaging learning environment.
  • Ability to pass a background check, have a valid U.S. driver's license and good driving record

Physical Demands


  • Ability to lift up to 20lbs
  • The employee frequently is required to sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate computer keyboard, telephone and basic office equipment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear
  • Ability to drive company owned or personal vehicle.
