The AIM Institute an innovative not-for-profit organization that grows a strong and diverse tech community through education, career development, and outreach is seeking a Development Officer.

 

The Advancement Coordinator is a key contributor to AIM’s mission of fostering a strong and diverse tech community. This role focuses on building mission-centered relationships, securing vital resources, and engaging donors and corporate partners through strategic fundraising, event planning, and targeted marketing efforts. The Advancement Coordinator plays a critical role on the Advancement team, participating in all aspects of fundraising and donor engagement initiatives. This position is instrumental in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting fundraising support while fostering long-term relationships with donors and corporate sponsors.

 

Essential Job Functions:
 

  • Plan and execute fundraising and community events, ensuring smooth operations from setup to teardown.
  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit fundraising support through mission-centered relationships with a portfolio of donors and prospects.
  • Deliver presentations and pitches to secure funding for AIM’s programs and initiatives.
  • Recruit and steward participants and corporate members, managing logistics and deepening engagement.
  • Develop and implement strategies to secure corporate sponsorships, event funding, and fee-for-service contracts.
  • Write compelling proposals, donor appeals, and impact reports to inspire giving.
  • Actively participate in prospecting and outreach through cold calling, networking, and email campaigns.
  • Oversee vendor relationships, staff scheduling, and event marketing to maximize attendance and donor engagement.
  • Provide on-site management and post-event follow-up to foster long-term relationships.
  • Create and manage content for social media, email marketing, and public relations to promote AIM’s mission and initiatives.
  • Develop and distribute promotional materials, including press releases, advertisements, and digital content.
  • Monitor and respond to online reviews, engaging with audiences to build AIM’s brand presence.
  • Collaborate on creative projects like video production, graphic design, and advertising copy.
  • Maintain accurate records of donor interactions and contributions using Netsuite.
  • Collaborate with AIM colleagues across departments to align strategies and enhance donor engagement.
  • Monitor and analyze fundraising performance metrics to inform future strategies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to make successful cold calls and actively participate in networking events
  • Ability and interest in learning more about tech skills and tech careers
  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of self-management
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with participants and others of diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with companies, organizations, and other community partners
  • Proficiency in Google applications such as Google Docs, Gmail, etc.
  • Ability to work independently and accurately and make decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Ability to learn new operating systems and implement

 

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in technology, business, communications, or related field preferred, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 3+ years experience in sales, development, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Working knowledge of fundraising software/CRM.
  • Must possess knowledge of fundraising principles and practices and maintain a professional, polished demeanor.
  • Demonstrated success in meeting and exceeding fundraising goals and objectives.
  • Detail-oriented, with strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills that transcend diverse audiences.
  • Aptitude for managing and effectively using information systems in support of a development program.
  • Initiative and independence in carrying out responsibilities.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and a variety of demands.
  • Strong self-motivation and the ability to work as a team member.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and high accuracy in donor records.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive working environment, spirit of cooperation, and positive reactions to change and conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrated motivational and problem-solving capabilities with high integrity, ethics, and dedication to AIM’s mission.
