Promote positive interactions among members and guests as a Facility Attendant. Responsible for assisting with one of the following areas at the Community Center on Papillion Landing’s campus:
Child Watch – Provide careful supervision of the Community Center’s younger members and guests. Execute fun, interactive, and exciting activities for youth who have been checked into child watch while their guardian participates in various activities of the Community Center. Applicants must have availability for either weekday mornings and/or evenings.
General Facility – Provide excellent customer service by answering any public inquiries and assisting with operations at the front desk. Ensure members and guests have a fun, safe and sanitary space to enjoy by assisting in daily operational tasks, various programs, and events occurring within the Community Center. Applicants must have availability for weekday evenings.
POSITION TITLE: Facility Attendant
REPORTS TO: Assigned Facility Manager / Recreation Coordinator

PURPOSE OF POSITION: Under immediate supervision, responsible for the daily maintenance and upkeep of assigned Recreation Facility. Assists in the supervision of recreational programs and activities, daily event operations, and ensures the efficient provision of services to the community for all functions held. An incumbent will be required to work varied hours during the week, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Inspects and cleans facilities, eating areas, associated bathrooms, on a regular basis to maintain cleanliness and a hazard-free environment; performs various custodial duties such as sweeping, picking up trash, sanitizing, and vacuuming.
Performs general setup, cleanup, and maintenance to areas for events such as cleaning spills, removing trash, tidying up, replacing tables and chairs, opening and closing dividers, and returns equipment used for the event.
Responsible for ensuring the compliance of departmental policies regarding hygiene, health, safety, and sanitation procedures.
Correct potential health and safety concerns, or reports to supervisor.
Provides a safe and creative play atmosphere for children under the care of all Recreation facilities participating in recreational programs and activities. Reports any incidents of child abuse/neglect per guidelines.
Responsible for adhering to and enforcing rules and regulations to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment; refers individuals who fail to comply with regulations to the supervisor.
Attends staff meetings and participates in employee training sessions as required.
Establishes and maintains positive public relations with the public, recreation participants, and other employees. Refers citizen complaints to the supervisor for resolution.
Operates point-of-sale systems, which includes the recreational software used for membership, registrations and department programming; accepts cash and credit payments, makes accurate change, maintains cash drawers, and accurately reports sales if assigned to facilities with concession and/or admission sales.
Operates various equipment, appliances, and utensils; ensures that equipment and utensils are in proper working order.
If assigned to a facility with a concession stand, reports complaints, problems, and needs concerning equipment and food supplies to appropriate supervisor such as defective, damaged, or lost utensils, supplies and equipment, spoiled or unattractive food, and menu complaints.
Participates in citywide special events as needed.
Ability to maintain regular and dependable attendance on the job, including attendance and job performance for possibly prolonged periods of time when called out on short notice due to weather conditions, emergencies and similar situations of public necessity.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSES:
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work will be performed both indoor and outdoor, with the employee being exposed to various weather conditions including but not limited to heat, humidity, and rain.
Work required is continual physical activity, including walking, running, standing, kneeling, bending, crouching, reaching, stooping, lifting and carrying various supplies, equipment and other materials. The incumbent may be required to sit or stand for extended periods, as well as talk, hear, and smell.
While performing the duties, the incumbent is required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, supplies and/or equipment. Hand-eye coordination in necessary to operate various pieces of office and rental equipment. Incumbent will be required to do some occasional lifting, moving and carrying objects unassisted up to 50 lbs. Work may occasionally be required in times of dim lighting. Vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level is usually moderate to high but may even be intense depending on the scheduled activity.
Work requires extensive interaction with the public and other community groups and may be stressful when dealing with parents/patrons, crowds, uncooperative participants, difficult individuals, periods of continuous demand and/or the enforcement of rules.
