Description
 

Purpose of Position

Provide design support for engineering or operations on projects or problems related to pipeline facilities (meter & compressor stations, pipelines, underground storage facilities, liquefied natural gas storage facilities, etc.).

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions)

Produces engineering drawings from design information that will reflect accurate dimensions, layout, physical arrangements and material specifications of new or modified facilities.

 

Determines extent of detail layout arrangement, scale, etc. of orthographic drawings and projections.

 

Performs simple calculations, graphic representations, property unitizations and bill of materials by using available engineering aids.

 

Reviews and incorporates all codes, company policies, safety and other standards which are applicable.

 

Provides necessary interpretation of rough engineering sketches.

 

Provides basic drafting services as assigned and revises drawings in accordance with redirected requirements.

 

Completes or revises as-built drawing and related documents as assigned.

 

Prepares visual aids working from sketches provided by supervisor

 

Assist in meeting the Company’s business objectives and the various government agency rules and regulations.

 

Reports status of projects to team leader or design manager.

 

Participate in task forces, conference and training sessions to streamline or re-engineer internal/external processes as required.

 

Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.

 

 

 

Qualifications
 

Position Requirements

An associate’s degree in engineering or a related field, a technical degree, or equivalent work experience.  (Typically three years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess an associate’s degree.)

 

Two years of related experience in gas pipeline engineering, operations or construction.

 

A strong analytical ability, good interpersonal and human relation skills.

 

Demonstrate good judgment in problem solving and decision-making, with ability to take action or commit oneself appropriately.

 

Good working knowledge of related drafting tools, procedures and techniques.

 

Knowledge of AutoCAD and CAD Overlay and discipline related applications (AlignDb, DrawPipe, etc.) and the Envision Document Management System.

 

Must be familiar with engineering and operations related, codes, standards and procedures, i.e. (DOT, FERC, OSHA, NNG, etc.).

 

Mathematical skills to perform required calculations.

 

Good oral and written communication skills.

 

Excellent PC skills, including familiarity with Windows environment, must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

 

Ability to work with changing priorities and exacting deadlines.

 

Ability to make periodic field trips to operations technical office facilities or other sites as required.

 

In-depth working knowledge of gas pipeline industry and NNG systems preferred, but not required.

 

Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
