Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Strategy & Transformation Team Lead located at one of the following NPPD locations in Nebraska: Columbus, Kearney, Norfolk, Lincoln, or York. Position closes November 24, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. Central Time.
The overall purpose of this position is to facilitate and support positive change involving business transformation initiatives. This position will support the execution of change through analyzing processes, developing improvements, planning events, training staff, collaborating with teams, liaising with others, and managing projects. The incumbent will serve as a change agent within all levels of the organization including frontline staff and leadership. The incumbent will provide coaching and mentorship, guiding stakeholders and cross-functional team members in adapting to and understanding how to translate continuous improvement/innovation tools and methods into practice. Through the use of strategic thinking, change leadership and management, Lean continuous improvement, innovation and design tools, and agile methodologies this position will increase organizational efficiency, effectiveness, competitiveness, and the continuous flow of value to NPPD’s customers.
Bachelors’ degree plus 2 years’ experience as identified below (OR) Associate’s degree plus 4 years’ experience as identified below (OR) High School diploma or GED plus 6 years’ experience as identified below required.
Prior related experience:
Experience in electric, natural gas or related industry operations and management including knowledge of and experience with Continuous Improvement program implementation, maintenance, support, measurement, etc. is preferred.
Lean Certification or obtain within one (1) year from date of hire.
Agile Scrum Master certification or equivalent within (1) year from the date of hire.
Create, lead and implement change initiatives of modest to moderate complexity related to business processes and technologies. Build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with key management, teammates, and stakeholders within and outside the District. Promote the adoption of changes within the organization utilizing Strategy Management (e.g. Hoshin Kanri), Change Leadership, and Change Management methodologies. Within assigned initiatives, develop project strategies and plans, including stakeholder assessment, communications, leadership alignment, organization transition, change readiness, capability transfer, and end-user training.
Lead/facilitate meetings with team members, affected stakeholders, sponsors, and/or users to ensure successful outcomes, execution, and adoption of District initiatives as contained in the District’s Strategic Plan, Future State Roadmaps/plans, or other strategic documents and plans as developed.
Provide business transformation support utilizing Lean Continuous Improvement, Lean Agile Scrum, Change Leadership, Innovation & Design Techniques, and TRIZ methodologies where appropriate. Coach teams on proper methodology application, tool use, and execution. Provide coaching on the most efficient methodologies to use to obtain desired results.
Work with Value Stream Owners to assess critical customer requirements and identify performance measures of the Value Streams for the strategic management and support of the District Strategic Plan. Under the guidance of management, work to ensure organizational alignment in pursuit of transformational or innovative initiatives within assigned value streams.
Lead the identification of Jobs to be Done, Outcome Expectations, and the Definition of Done for assigned initiatives by creating beneficial relationships and working with the affected customers, stakeholders, and users within the value stream, system, or process undergoing change. Ensure that targeted changes will produce the desired outcomes by focusing on meeting identified customer requirements.
Participate in the identification of key emerging trends, benchmarking, marketing, and surveying in technology and/or customer requirements and collaborate with others to develop innovative solutions to creative challenges and opportunities that can result in value creation for NPPD and its customers.
Pilot, prototype, or complete proof-of-concept demonstrations as needed to determine the viability of potential innovations. This may include providing direct support and oversight of the District’s internal and external surveying efforts and related public perception feedback efforts, including data analysis.
At the direction of management, identify, plan, and execute key initiatives to commercialize innovative solutions by enabling NPPD’s internal value streams, systems, and processes to deliver a diverse portfolio of product and service offerings to NPPD’s customer base.
At the direction of management, up to and including the Vice President of Strategy and Transformation, lead/facilitate meetings with team members, affected stakeholders, sponsors, and/or users to ensure successful creation, execution, and adoption of the District’s Strategic Plan and associated corporate performance, or other strategic and performance documents and plans as developed.
In order to advance to the Senior Transformation and Strategy Team Lead position, the following skills must be acquired and/or demonstrated: Lean application and demonstrated project work, first-hand facilitation and/or project participant from inception to completion, demonstrated leadership ability, change leadership understanding and application, understanding of Agile and project management philosophies, and demonstrated growth in previous or current positions. The Senior Team Lead, although a progression, is business dependent as defined by management.

Salary Information - Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth. In addition to the base salary range listed below, NPPD employees may also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program (AIP) that may supplement total compensation at a level above and beyond the stated salary range. Successful applicants will be provided more information regarding the incentive program at the time of an interview.
Pay Grade - 14 Monthly
Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range: $7,746.00 - $9,876.00
Travel Required: Up to 25% (With no or minimal overnight stays, less than 3 per month, typically within state of Nebraska) Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview.
