To further bolster our expanding research endeavors, Boys Town is introducing the position of High-Performance Computing Software Analyst to our team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the research teams to enhance software performance within our High-Performance Computing (HPC) environment. We are seeking an individual with strong leadership skills and the ability to chart a path toward success.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Supports researchers and other users of Boys Towns High Performance Compute (HPC) environment.

  • Leads efforts to transition software onto the HPC environment.

  • Provides support and troubleshooting for software applications that run on the HPC environment, ensuring user issues are resolved promptly and effectively.

  • Manages the Docker environment and participates in overall management of the HPC environment.

  • Helps researchers transition their workstation environment and code to the HPC for parallel processing.

  • Participates in environment and project testing to drive performance improvements and adopt new features.

  • Conducts training sessions for users to help users understand and use the environment effectively.

  • Provides timely and effective support to end users regarding how to use software features and resolve problems.

  • Creates and maintains documentation such as user guides, troubleshooting guides, and onboarding documents.

  • Participates in establishing and maintaining development standards.

  • Coordinates activities with internal staff, software vendors, and other users to meet system objectives.

  • Remains up to date with new software use cases and technologies to enhance support capabilities.

  • Develops and maintains high customer satisfaction while working in partnership with vendors, cross- functional teams and management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong technical writing capabilities.

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with a background of providing systems support required

  • Minimum 3 years of experience of both Windows and Linux operating systems required.

  • Minimum 1 year of experience with Python programming language required.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience of Docker management principles and the associated environment required.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience with creating Bash scripts required.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience of version controls system, such as GitHub required.

  • Experience with software testing and quality assurance processes required.

  • Ability to be on-call to provide additional support and/or may require work to be performed outside of traditional business hours including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with parallel programming techniques preferred..

  • Experience with MathWorks MATLAB programming platform preferred.

  • Knowledge of High Performance Computing (Slurm) environment and concepts preferred.

  • Technical certifications preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, EQUIPMENT USAGE, WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Position is relatively sedentary in a normal office administrative environment involving minimum exposure to physical risks. Will use office equipment such as a computer/laptop, monitor, keyboard, and a general workstation set-up.
