At Boys Town, the Development Coordinator manages Development Office community activities and events as it relates to grants, donor support, and increasing organizational visibility. The ideal candidate will have a passion for what they do, be project oriented, and possess the ability to build and maintain relationships and communicate effectively.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

Coordinates and manages a wide range of activities that support the development goals of the Site and assists in cultivating and stewarding donor relationships.

  • Plans, organizes, and implements special events to secure sponsorships, cash donations, in-kind contributions, and to maximize revenue to meet development fundraising goals.

  • Prospects and solicits corporate or other external sponsors and capitalizes on fund development opportunities.

  • Provides leadership to board members to foster relationships and achieve fundraising goals; identifies suitable vendors and negotiates contracts and agreements for special events.

  • Prepares a wide range of written event materials including funding proposals, program descriptions, reports, letters, and acknowledgments.

  • Manages the grant process within the Site including researching, identifying, and procuring grants and other potential funding sources which align with the organizational mission and strategic goals.

  • Prepares reports on development activity, maintains development hard copy and computer files, coordinates events, and prepares appropriate letters for specialized donor correspondence as part of managing community outreach activities.

  • Builds and maintains donor relationships, engages donors and prospective donors in an appropriate manner, and manages prospects.

  • Maintains contact and creates networking within the community; performs donor identification, cultivation, and stewardship and responds to donor inquiries and requests for assistance.

  • Processes, prepares, and records all donations daily, maintains donor record, and initiates donor research.

  • Documents development activities and interactions in the Donor Database.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of fundraising and special events.

  • High level of professionalism, customer service, and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong computer skills in Blackbaud CRM and Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with individuals at all levels in the organization and with external business contacts in an articulate, professional manner while maintaining necessary degree of confidentiality.

  • Ability to build and sustain trust to facilitate successful, professional relationships.

  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and multi-task while maintaining quality standards.

  • Knowledge of the Boys Town Model.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Marketing or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience including marketing, public relations, donor cultivation, or event planning required.

  • Available to travel to events and work evenings and weekends as needed required.

  • Possess a valid drivers license with a good driving record and pass an annual Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR) required.

  • Ability to provide own transportation to complete travel requirements of job; meet auto insurance requirements established by Boys Town policy and/or State and Local law requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Nonprofit experience in donor relations is preferred.

  • Experience with fundraising data management programs (Blackbaud CRM) is preferred.
