Our client is seeking a Personal Banker to join their growing team. This role is responsible for monthly consumer sales, small business, and real estate loans; as well as, account opening and building/maintaining a personal book of business. The selected team member will act as a liaison between members and internal departments or external organizations. To thrive in this role, you must be a self-starter and driven to meet established goals. This role also requires a S.A.F.E Act registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing Systems (NMLS).
 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Promote, sell, and cross-sell credit union products and services to current and new members following a needs-based sales methodology. Drive sales through member relationships to generate revenue.
  • Deliver a high level of service to members through member onboarding, utilization of the Credit Union’s service level agreements, and financial and product education.
  • Focus on the solutions that meet the needs of the member and personally strive to make each interaction the best experience of their day.
  • Participate in branch promotions and programs that align with organizational goals using current marketing campaigns. 
  • Achieve established monthly sales goals to include account openings, consumer, small business, real estate loans, and ancillary products.
  • Prepare, complete, and finalize all required paperwork and documentation with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ensure positive public perception of the Credit Union by building relationships externally and welcoming and greeting visitors in a professional manner.
  • Support, mentor, and participate in training of new staff as directed by manager.
  • Maintain high degree of confidentiality, security and internal control procedures.
  • Provide support to the teller line, when primary back up is unavailable.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of all teller policies and procedures.
  • Ability to open and close the branch and accurately balance a cash drawer.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal audit policies, guidelines, and procedures for personal banker role.
  • Ensure prompt and efficient service to credit union members utilizing outlined service level agreements.
  • Complete all annual regulatory training. Participate in credit union functions, self-development, and other training programs that align to the business.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

  • A high school education or GED required.
  • One year to three years of sales experience, ideally in a financial institution, preferred.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with multiple interruptions.
  • Ability to ask great questions in order to determine a member’s financial needs and recommend the correct products and services. 
  • Ability to problem solve and work with confidentiality and high attention to detail.
  • Must have reasoning ability, professional decorum to handle confidential issues in a calm manner, possess the ability to read and interpret documents such as regulatory procedures.
