Responsible for conducting surveys, inspections and complaint investigations of Community-Based Developmental Disability Providers and Intermediate Care Facilities for the Mentally Retarded to determine compliance with state statutes and state and federal program standards; provide consultative services and in-service staff training on the programming needs and other needs of persons with developmental disabilities. Examples of service areas reviewed are: administration, habilitation/active treatment, rights, health care, physical environment, staffing, and medications.
REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to meet requirements to be a Qualified Mental Retardation Professional (QMRP). Bachelor's degree in a human service field or a licensed RN plus experience providing habilitation/active treatment directly to persons with developmental disabilities. Prefer Bachelors degree in special education and psychology. Will consider social work, counseling, human development, or other closely related areas. Knowledge and experience in current acceptable standards of practice of services for individuals with developmental disabilities and applicable state/federal regulations and state statutes. Ability to research, analyze information and formulate accurate conclusions; conduct effective interviews; presentations; report writing and have basic computer skills. Need someone with strong communication and writing skills, excellent organizational skills, dependable, responsible, self motivated and work effectively as a team member. Day/overnight travel and may work irregular hours to accomplish assigned workload. Valid driver's license or ability to provide independent authorized transportation.
