Job / Education Requirements

• High School graduate or equivalent. 
• College level related course-work preferred.  Six (6) CEU’s per year in related field. 
• Licensed as required by the state of Iowa.  Meets all Iowa Department of Human Services requirements.  
• Requires knowledge of basic child care methods and practices, developmental stages of young children and appropriate developmental practices.  Requires the knowledge of basic first aid and child/infant/adult CPR, and mandatory state child abuse reporting rules.
• Previous child care experience preferred. 
• Requires the skills in physically caring for young children, problem solving, childhood anxiety problems, and identifying signs of abuse. 
• Able to identify symptoms of common communicable diseases. 
• Requires the ability to communicate both orally and in writing to children, parents, staff members, and visitors, relate to young children on an age appropriate level, and foster a loving, caring, safe environment for young children.
• Skilled in promoting positive relations when interacting with patients or other customers.
