Position Description
HDR is currently in need of an Electrical Engineer - Moveable Bridges to work as a member of our Transportation Business Group in Norfolk, VA. Their duties will include emergency & planned site visits to movable bridge facilities within Virginia to troubleshoot problems with electrical/mechanical control or power systems, measure performance, and recommend immediate or interim solutions. This will require some travel, overnight and weekend work. They will also evaluate field data and collaborate with project managers to develop recommendations, cost estimates and/or specifications for long-term maintenance strategies, and immediate repair actions. They will also be expected to prepare reports documenting field activities, measurements and recommendations, as well as design and develop construction plans and specifications for new and/or replacement components or integrated systems for movable bridge control or power systems. Finally, they may also assist the national business group in marketing for movable bridge services in VA and east coast.
