Position Description
HDR is in need of a Senior Traffic Engineer to work as part of our Transportation Business Group in the Salt Lake City, UT office. Primary duties of the Senior Traffic Engineer include ability to independently manage small to medium sized traffic engineering projects (roadway lighting, maintenance of traffic, permanent signing, pavement marking, traffic signals/traffic management system design plans, intersection design, capacity and signal warrant analyses and Intelligent Transportation System), client development / local, state and federal pursuits in Utah as well as plan, organize and supervise work of medium to large staff of professionals and technicians. Individual must be comfortable with being viewed as a technical expert with recognized authority in an area of specialization that resolves problems of greater scope and complexity while planning and developing projects or design activities that have significant impact on major company programs. Keyword(s): Senior Traffic Engineer B.S. in Civil Engineering required, PE required, MSCE and/or PTOE preferred. 10+ minimum years experience in traffic engineering for urban and rural highways, major and minor interchanges and intersections is required. Knowledge of regulations of local, state and federal transportation agencies is a must. Proficiency with Microsoft Office required. Experience using HCS, CORSIM, Synchro/SIM Traffic, Microstation/InRoads, AutoCAD and other software packages is required. Strong oral and written communication skills, presentation skills and ability to work in a team environment are required.
