Position Description
The primary duties of the Senior Mechanical Engineer is to coordinate the work of Mechanical Engineers with the balance of a multi-disciplined team for moveable bridge and other transportation-related heavy moveable infrastructure projects. Establishes client relations, and is involved with the marketing, design and production meetings with regard to mechanical systems work. Assumes the Mechanical Lead on many projects. Participates in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance. Conducts schematic, design development and contract document work sessions in conjunction with Project Manager, and other disciplines. Is responsible to coordinate workload through the entire project development to complete documents on schedule within budget and quality requirements. Is responsible to track the financial aspects of the projects, and coordinates and adjusts the work effort with the team to ensure that the work is completed within the parameters of the agreed to schedule. Works with the Project Manager and Regional Controller for project reviews with corporate management on an as needed basis. Directs the activities of other mechanical engineering professionals, and acts as a mentor to other staff members. Keyword(s): requisition

Bachelors or Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 15 + years experience in mechanical design for movable bridge projects or other heavy movable infrastructure. Must be a P.E with extensive knowledge of heavy machinery, speed reducers, couplings and brake and control systems as they relate to heavy moveable infrastructure, such as bridges, lock/dam gates and cranes. Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office, Autocad/Microstation, and knowledge of related AASHTO, AREMA and AGMA codes required. Previous experience with an engineering consulting firm desired.
