Position Description
The primary duties of the Regulatory Specialist include preparing, editing and reviewing technical sections for environmental assessments, environmental impact statements, resources reports and permit applications, biological assessments and other miscellaneous environmental/regulatory documents. Coordinating the permitting process through various governmental agencies with goal of securing required governmental approvals for projects. Assisting in the preparation of permitting documents and advising of deficiencies in the applications.
Working in a group environment setting to support for a variety of complex assignments.
Will provide leadership and project management from proposal through study design, data collection and reporting. Participation in public hearings and make recommendations related to evaluation of the project and of any outstanding issues. Keywords: Regulatory Specialist, hyrdopower, requisition

Bachelors Degree in an environmental or related field is required. Masters Degree is considered an asset. Technical expertise in a related discipline (aquatics, water resources, wildlife, vegetation, soils, etc.) is required. Minimum of five (5) years experience in conducting comprehensive and screening level environmental impact assessments, preparing regulatory applications for approvals, land use permitting, and public consultation is required. Sound working knowledge of provincial and federal environmental permitting regulations is required. Technical writing skills and the ability to coordinate and interact with co-workers, project staff, various clients and government agencies. Previous consulting experience is an asset. Position requires strong communication, interpersonal and multitasking skills.
