HDR is currently in need of a Transportation Business Group manager who will be responsible for the operations of the Northern Virginia Transportation Business Group based out of our Alexandria, VA office. This individual will be responsible for oversight of a group which will include transit, transportation planning, rail, roadway, bridges, and traffic projects. They will also be responsible for the leadership of the transportation program, strategic and business planning, staff development, profitability, morale, quality control and marketing support. They will also be expected to function as a project manager in addition to management responsibilities, and be administratively responsible for section managers and technical service functions to lead and coordinate services within the Transportation Business Group. They will also be involved in marketing planning, proposals and interviews, and interface extensively with public and private clients on a routine basis. They will pro-actively plan and evaluate work, and be expected to implement, monitor and support company policy. Experience with managing and developing multi-discipline teams is a must as they will select, train, and develop Transportation Business Group personnel. Finally, they will also work cooperatively with National Directors and Marketing leadership in local and national marketing and production efforts.

BS Civil Engineering required.

PE required.

Must have 15+ years experience in civil engineering, transportation design and planning.

VDOT experience preferred, as is experience with Northern Virginia/DC Metro Area transit agencies.

Must be a self-starter with excellent communication skills.

Strong marketing and business development experience is essential.

This individual must be able to demonstrate successful track record in initiating and managing growth, and have an existing network of Northern Virginia transportation industry contacts.

Good leadership and organizational skills also required.
