Position Description

The Information Technology Intern position is responsible for participation in a 10-week (40 hours/week) Intern Program starting in June 2010 with specific emphasis upon learning the primary responsibilities of various Information Technology positions. Interns will actively participate in the assigned group intern team project. This position will receive an hourly wage of $15 per hour, plus an $800 starting bonus.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:

1. Gain understanding of tools, technology, resources and techniques used to create quality applications.

2. Opportunity for an in-depth experience with agile and pragmatic development methodologies.

3. Assist with the development of applications using contemporary Microsoft technologies (C#, Visual Studio 2008, SQL Server 2008, Sharepoint).

4. Participate in a highly team-oriented, leadership focused environment.

5. Complete special projects and tasks as assigned.

Additional functions of the position may include:

1. Performs other related duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Characteristics of an ideal candidate include: Self motivated, fast learner, customer service orientated, team player, active communicator. Completed at least 2 years of college coursework including basic development or networking classes.

Duties require:

• Demonstrated competence in decision-making and problem solving.

• Leadership and judgment to analyze, evaluate, and develop solutions to complex problems.

• Provide sound technical advice to management and other staff in the subject field(s) related to this position.

• Strong working knowledge of object oriented development and relational database techniques.

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and effectively demonstrate team building attitude and skills.

• Proficient in Windows environment using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer.

•Proficient in working with Windows OS, including XP and Windows 7.

• Understanding of business concepts, including finance and accounting, beneficial but not required.

Farm Credit Services of America employees and vendors.

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to reason, judge, compare, calculate, evaluate and critique such information as written materials, numerical data, responses to customer needs and/or other work related activities.

• Ability to complete work in an acceptable timeframe and manage a variety of detailed tasks and responsibilities simultaneously and with accuracy to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives and satisfy internal and external customer needs related to the job.

• Ability to operate telephone and respond to calls and in-person inquiries.

• Ability to move about the office with occasional reaching and bending.

• Ability to successfully interact with and represent the organization to staff, officers, board members, customers, and the public at all levels.

• Ability to use a keyboard and computer. This involves reading the screen and keying/typing information.

• Ability to travel by auto or commercial transportation to carry out essential responsibilities.
