Position Description

This position serves as the Chief Student Conduct Officer for the University.  Responsibilities include: 

  • Implementing and ensuring adherence to procedures for adjudicating cases.
  • Ensuring timely processing and reviewing of student conduct cases.
  • Design and implement an Alternative Dispute Resolution program to include mediation and restorative justice programs.
  • Counseling students in crisis and assisting students with problems.
  • Coordinates the recruitment, selection and training of members of all Hearing Boards and Hearing Officers
  • Coordinates the training of members of the Honor Court.
  • Resolves student and parent inquiries.
  • Investigates charges of student organization misconduct and off-campus behavior.
  • Serving as a campus-wide resource for judicial cases working with University Police, University Residence Life, Counseling and Career Planning, University Legal Counsel, and Student Health Services.
  • Participating in all orientation programs on behalf of the office.
  • Conducting research and advising the Dean regarding complaints, cases, current trends in liability as well as other higher education legal issues.
  • Preparing required reports and statistics related to student conduct activity in keeping with applicable university policies and state/federal laws.
  • Developing and implementing methods to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of the student conduct system.
  • Serving on division program initiatives and university committees; serving as advisor on various student/educational programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
     

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Master’s degree in College Student Personnel, Counseling or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in student programming, student conduct adjudication, and/or conflict mediation. 
  • Experience with adjudicating disciplinary cases, conflict mediation, counseling, program implementation preferred.
  • Must be able to work independently and collaboratively with a team.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
