Position Description

Subject to change based on final version of contract and various addendums.

Duties/Responsibilities:

1.       Prepares, plans and arranges for sessions with children/youth and families referred by CFS and as assigned by making appropriate phone calls to establish rapport with the family.

2.       Monitors child/youth and parent/caregiver interactions to ensure the safety of all family members and the community.

3.       Documents events and occurrences during sessions relating to inter-actions between parents, child(ren), or  child/guardian.

4.       Assists in locating suitable alternative placement to meet a specific child’s needs and to meet policy and program specific guidelines.

5.       Transports children safely using approved and appropriate car restraints.

6.       Maintains on-going contact with Families F.I.R.S.T. Manager, CFS, Service Coordinator regarding each case assigned as deemed appropriate or as requested.

7.       Attends program specific training, and/or meetings as specified by supervisor.

8.       Assists with coverage for other staff in the event of an emergency or other specified need.

9.       Completes all reports and documentation in a timely, accurate and efficient manner according to program standards.

10.    Attends court when requested to by Families F.I.R.S.T Manager and DHHS/CFS.

11.    Attends family team meetings or team staffings when requested to do so.

12.    Elevates session and/or safety concerns immediately to supervisor or program Manager.

13.    Assists when asked with in-home safety or crisis situations in the family at varied hours throughout the day or night.

14.    Provides direct service care within the Alternative Family Mentor Care homes. 

15.    Performs other tasks as may be assigned.

3.       Rapport with family and referral sources.

4.       Timely attendance at scheduled sessions, meetings.

5.       Assurance of required trainings.

 

 

Relationships

 

1.       Supervised by:  Families F.I.R.S.T. Manager

2.       Supervises: N/A

3.       Internal: Works in harmony with all team members, supervisors, managers and other related personnel.

4.       External: Continual contact with families, CFSS, Service Coordinators, and other stakeholders involved with the child/youth and family.

 

 

Job Specifications and Work Requirements

1.       Education

a.       Required: Either an Associates degree in human services or related field or equivalent work experience of 3-5 years. 

b.       Desired: Minimum of Associates Degree in Human Services or Childcare.

 

2.       Experience

a.       Required: Must be at least 21 years of age with a minimum of 3 years experience working with children and families.

b.       Desired: Prefer a minimum of five years experience in a field directly related to children and/or families.

 

3.       Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations: Clear Criminal History Background and Adult/Child Abuse checks, as well as all program specific certifications, NCI, First Aid/CPR, Car Restraint, Defensive Driving, clearance from all background checks and drug screens (Trainings offered by Visinet, Inc.)

 

4.       Equipment/Tools/Work Aids: Knowledge of Microsoft word and basic computer use helpful.

 

5.       Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Spanish, Sign Language, etc. beneficial.

 

6.       Working Conditions:

a.       Varied climates both indoors and outside in homes, neutral locations or related areas.

b.       Varied working hours – typically late afternoon and early evenings and at least one weekend day.

c.        Various other components such as pets, housekeeping skills, etc.

d.       Significant time driving between and/or to sessions.
