Position Description

Get out and have fun this summer!
Camp Pokamoke of the Greater YMCA of Omaha is currently seeking individuals to join our summer staff for 2010. The camp provides a unique opportunity to be a part of an amazing camp program while working daytime hours. We are a traditional camp for ages 5-17, with everything from campfires to zip lines. The programs include horses, achery/riflery, sports, biking, science, arts & crafts, natural science education, ropes course, pool and wilderness survival. Bring your talents and expertise as a counselor and help provide over 1,000 children with an unforgettable experience. The relationships and memories made as camp staff are incomparable and lifelong. Position may count toward internship hours, dependent upon program of study.
 

Entry Requirements:

  • Must have prior supervisory experience.
  • Must work well with boys and girls ages 6-15.
  • Must be willing to undergo background check.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must possess skills in teaching archery, crafts, songs, stories, horsemanship, games and other related camp activities.
  • Customer service skills and a valid drivers license.
  • Must possess a current CPR/First Aid certification, we will provide training.
  • Must be able to perform physical labor requirements of job.
  • On-site attendance is required of this position.

    Principle Responsibilities:
  • Supports on-Site Director in planning and directing camp activities.
  • Participates in and helps with the Family Night activities preparing food, skits,songs, and various other events.
  • Safety and well being is number 1 priority of all children at all times.
  • Upholds camp policies and philosophy using camp goals and objectives as a basis.
  • Must maintain positive relationships with campers, parents and other staff.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned and necessary.
